so i decided to translate a sketchbook idea onto something that may or may not be final. anyway heres the work in progress, ill probably ending up doing 2 or 3 more of these before i get it a way i like, then put some kind of bg in. i was mostly looking for some suggestions on something i could do in the bg. something with movement and energy and hopefully gives some depth to it. non-representational would be preferred also. any help is appreciated. (sumi ink and one of those nib pens w/e theyr called)

and heres the sketchbook page. i kind of like the sketchbook better because it looks a little crazier (ball point pen)

draw in the background so that it looks like the head is in a glass case - in a museum

in the background, a small child and a mother look at the head in the class case from a distance

maybe put a clock on the museum wall or something

this may or may not go with what you had in mind, but i just thought it would look cool

To be honest, I'm not digging this one too much but if you're going for distorted anatomy then I think you should push it farther. As of right now he just looks like he's being stretched by some random, invisible force. Also, it can be difficult to work a background into what is essentially a bland portrait pose. Do some quick studies to see how you would deal with much more of the figure in view. Push it as far as you can in a new direction.
