Used to be a Playstation exclusive, but this was bound to happen with the success Capcom has had with the 360. Never really got into the DMC series, but I know there are a lot of people who like this game.

Wow look at this update on the story
http://xbox360.ign.com/articles/774/774523p1.html
His blog, dreisechtig.net (which is German for 360), reads that Devil May Cry 4 was just the first of three. Schneider-Johne posted: "One down, two to go." Which was followed by the names of three games: "Devil May Cry, Final Fantasy and Metal Gear Solid."
Im sorry but if Microsoft gets FF and MGS its seriously over for the PS3.

It appears another Sony exclusive in Ace Combat is also making its way to the 360.

This is definitely bad news for Sony fans, whether or not they play that franchise. Although I am sure that a lot of the early adapters are at least happy to know that the games are still coming to the PS3 instead of completely being switched like DQIX is going to be. For me it sucks because I have been holding out for a PS3 thus far, but every day it seems like Sony is getting dumped on more and more by consumers and producers alike.
I am glad that so far the only games I care about that are going multi-platform are also going to see PC releases as well; that way I don't have to buy a 360 and reward MS for a job poorly done (in my opinion - and I'd rather not go off topic about why I say that so don't ask).

why hold out for PS3?

No, it isn't. We're still getting the games. Don't tell me it's because the games will get switched from being PS3 exclusives to not even offered on the PS3, either. There's not a god damn chance of that happening given how much money developers have made with those games on the PS in the past (speaking about MGS, RE, and FF primarily).

I take it that you read the first fraction of a sentence I posted and then fired that reply off? Seriously, the next sentence I posted says exactly that early PS3 adapters will be happy to know that they still get the games and its not a total switch. Don't be so fast to assume that because somebody says it is bad news for Sony that they are anti-Sony fanatics that always assume the absolute worst.
It is bad news because the more exclusive titles that go multi-platform, the less people on the fence over buying the PS3 have to buy it. As a result, Sony sells less systems, the PS3 becomes less popular, and it is in danger of being #3 this generation.

You take it wrong. I read your whole post. I didn't assume you are an anti-sony fanatic. I just think you're exaggerating things a bit.

Yea? So? I see that as way more of a problem for sony executives and not sony fans. Like we both said - the games are still coming out for the PS3. That's the bottom line as far as I'm concerned. If the games all come out, do I care if less people buy the system? Nope.

You should, look what happened to the Dreamcast. I fear that there is a real risk that the same is going to happen to the PS3. I really hope it doesn't though because the PS3 is the only system next gen that I actually want to buy. It has been my fear that the PS3 is this gen's DC since people started bitching about the price on the net though.
Of course, that is just how I am interpreting what has been happening so far.
Edit: though now that I think about it, didn't SEGA go bankrupt over the DC or something? That obviously isn't going to happen to SONY (their sales for other consumer electronics are too good). Still I don't want PS3 being in a distant 3rd because when gaming companies decide to put out a game they definitely take possible sales into consideration.

There's a lot of life in the system....years worth. I don't think there's anything to worry about. A slow launch, yep. But I think the system itself is solid and will be a good performer down the line. Once games start coming out for it, of course. Who knows, maybe with sony exclusives going cross platform new ps3 exclusives will spring up. A wider selection of games would be good news.

Dreamcast didn't kill Sega.
Sega CD, 32x, Saturn, Dreamcast, and a slew of poorly developed Sonic titles killed Sega's hardware facet. Of course, they still make bad Sonic titles. How about another NiGHTS? Freaking geniuses at Sega.
Anyhow, back to the topic at hand, if it's clear to you, C-Aim, that Sony has a chance at becoming the #3 of this generation, why stay so loyal? What makes the PS3 more desirable than the other systems (you could buy both for the price) for you? I'm unsure why you are wracking your brain, do you feel the roof of potential for Sony is greater than that of Nintendo or Microsoft?
For me, since both are offering the same essential content, I'm willing to sell myself to, in this case, the lowest bidder. Right now, that's the 360 and Wii combo. I think the question is why wouldn't anyone go this route?

I wouldn't exactly say that I am staying loyal to SONY in the way that you are thinking. I don't have brand loyalties in the sense that I am like "I like SONY therefore I will only buy SONY systems."
I am holding off on an XBox 360 for a few reasons. First: no digital output. I have a 7.1 surround sound system with HDMI switching and a 62in HDTV with HDMI input at my disposal. I was really looking for digital outputs this generation, and it seems like MS is finally delivering (you have seen my other thread about it). But they haven't delivered it quite yet :p Secondly, MS is not known for jRPGs, of which I am a huge fan. Blue Dragon and Fable 2 are not enough reason to buy the system. Finally, I have a rule that if I can't name 5 games that I want to play (either released or in development) then I don't buy a system, so far I can't do that for the 360. However, Blue Dragon is a step in the right direction, and if MS starts getting more jRPGs in production, then I would probably get one when the 3rd configuration replaces the current premium system.
As for the Wii, they still have not unveiled a good plan for online. Instead they have focused on releasing a stream of useless features like everybody votes and swappable Mii things. BORING. Plus, the huge attraction of the Wii is multiplayer, but none of my friends own one (in fact, one of my friends has stated that he outright refuses to buy one) and I am not willing to pay $60 per controller to play with them occasionally. Plus, the whole digital output and 5 game rule apply here.
The reasons I don't own a PS3 are similar: Lackluster online with no clearly defined and executed plan so far. Plus I am unimpressed with that advertisement environment dubbed "Home" that they just unveiled. In fact, if they made it so that is the only way to connect w/ your friends over their network, then I would would have to seriously reconsider a purchase. Lack of games that are out (I can name 5, but 4 of them are not out). Price for what I would get, I am not willing to pay $600 for one game and Bluray playback when I can just be patient and wait for the games I want to come out and/or a price drop.

No I want a PS3 and the XB360 "elite" has me interested but I am not foolish enough to blow $600 or $475 on them right now. The only system that I can say that I just don't want at all is the Wii.
I blew money on systems like Game Cube, DreamCast, PSP, and Xbox (not a lot of games for my tastes) immediately after they were widely available. Each of those systems had a few games that interested me, but after I took the plunge I wound out getting burned in the long run. The result was a serious case of buyer's remorse for each one. So now when the potential loss is higher than ever I want to be damned sure that the systems I get will last me for the long haul like the PS2 and DS.
EDIT: Added stuff.

It sounds to me like you are taking into consideration the future of Xbox and PS3, but not the future of Wii. Do Smash Bros Brawl, Metroid Echoes, Mario Galaxy, the next Mario Kart/Sports Games, Tiger Woods, Zelda: TP, Fire Emblem, Paper Mario, etc etc etc etc all not interest you? Have you played with the Wii yet?
You say that you want a PS3, in part because there are 5 games you want, but FOUR of them aren't out right now. This sounds hypocritical to me. Of course by the end of the next year or two every system will have 5 desirable games. You just aren't willing to give certain companies/systems an opportunity based on past bias. That's how it seems to me.
Oh, GCN, DC, and Xbox certainly had plenty of great exclusives on each of them. Perhaps you need to expand your horizons.

Edit: holy crap this got long fast. Guess that happens when I am bored waiting for my next class lol.
Smash Bros Brawl: Never liked it
Metroid Echoes: Don't like 3d Metroid, Love 2d
Mario Galaxy: Want to play
Mario Kart/Sports Games: Haven't liked MK since MK64 & I don't play non-racing sports titles of any kind simply because I don't like them.
Tiger Woods: I don't play sports games
Zelda: TP: I can get it on the GC.
Fire Emblem: I am kind of intersted in it, but I didn't play any of the originals so.
Paper Mario: I never enjoyed Paper Mario all that much, and I specifically remember being disappointed with the first game as a follow up to SM RPG.
I have not been singling Nintendo out in any way. If I was then I wouldn't have a DS and a collection of 18 (and growing) games from practically every genre on the system. The fact of the matter is that the Wii intersted me greatly when it was first announced. But it all went down hill from there. I constantly check the upcomming games of every system on IGN, trying to figure out what I would definitely play, but the fact is that I just can't name 5 games that I can get on the Wii, therefore I am not interested in it. Plus, I know it sounds crazy, but I am not willing to pay $250 + controllers for the system.
Also if I wasn't willing to give a company a chance based on past bias, then I also wouldn't care about the XB360 at all.
You say that you want a PS3, in part because there are 5 games you want, but FOUR of them aren't out right now. This sounds hypocritical to me.I don't see how it is hypocritical. My personal rule is being able to name 5 games that I want for the system that are out or coming out. I don't modify the rule because I favor some company, and it is exactly the reason that 4 of the PS3 ones are not out that I don't own a PS3 (and I could buy one right now if I wanted to; after all they are widely available in my area).
for the PS3 it goes: FF13 & FFvs13, Heavenly Sword, KH3, SSX4, Assassins Creed, Lair, Burnout 5, Mercenaries 2, Army of Two, God of War III, and the next Guitar Hero
for XB360 it goes: Dead Rising, Mercenaries 2, Assassins Creed (think it is coming to the box), Crackdown, Fable 2, next Guitar Hero.
for Wii all I can think of is Mario Galaxy, Final Fantasy: CC, the DQ Swords spinoff, and the next Zelda (which isn't coming out any time soon), and if I already had the system I would get Excite Truck. But at least two of those don't even have a ballpark release date yet.
If I was truly biased towards one system, I would already own it because I have the money available right now. If I had to choose between the 360 and PS3 (i.e. get only one) I would go PS3 because as far as exclusives go right now, the PS3 has FF, KH, Lair, and Army of Two, all of which I am excited about. I will probably wind up getting a PS3 and 360 eventually, but I would be crazy to buy either of them right now (especially the 360 considering a rumored new SKU and price drop around fall '07).
I have never had a brand loyalty of any kind. I simply go by what games I want to play. I didn't get a DS early on because it had few games I wanted, but when they redesigned it and released more RPGs I picked it up and now I have a large collection of DS games.
I got caught up in the PSP hype and bought it and now I seriously regret the purchase as my unit is rotting on the shelf (at least a family member of mine got some good use from it game-wise). I don't want that happening again with any system is all.
