Are game developers going to continue producing games for the PS2 or will they stop in the near future? I'm asking because I have one of the original PS2's (bulky one) and its pretty much gone to shit on me. I've had it since the initial release (2001-2002ish) so this was expected. I'd like to continue playing my PS2 games and get new ones in the future, but not if its a waste of money to buy a new one (slim variant) for $129 or whatever the price is these days.

What are y'alls opinions?

I dont know the specifics, but according to one of Sony's old statements, they will continue with the ps2 for a while like they did the ps1 when 2 came out.

Personally, i say it's worth it unless you actually see some games coming out you want.

Hell, i STILL want to get a japanese ps2 to get some jap games.

I just got a brand new one, God of War 2 is worth it alone...My old style took a shit on me as well + it's my DVD player too. I did get a good deal though traded in some games and paid like 70 bucks for gow2 and a new ps2.

I'm probably going to buy a "slim" version since my 1st gen one just took a shit.
