anyone seen any of these yet? I just saw a george washington one a few days ago..they just released them a few weeks ago.

carter, reagan, bush might not get their coins if carter lasts much longer.

Sacagawea coin failed because people would not USE them. They would they save them in collections rather than put them in currculation. Hopefully this will work and might finally lead to killing off the penny.

the problem is that people are compelled to hoard them for some reason.

this will change if they do ban the $1 dollar bill.

A coin can only be issued if a President has been dead for two years or more. Reagan died in 2004 and thus will get his in 2016. If Carter is still alive in 2014 then they will skip him and issue Reagan's.

thats twelve years or am i missing something?

EDIT: i think i am just confused by your statement here when i read it again and again, just a little clarification i suppose would be fine :), for example, if its only 2 years, why wouldnt they just skip Carter anyway, why wait until 2016? (dude is 90+ now as it is, doubt he will last a whole lot longer)

btw- probably the easiest way to get them if you really wanted them would be to go to the post office and use the machine to buy a book of stamps using a $20+, they give change in dollar coins - no telling who you would get though (assuming you need stamps and dont want to ask the bank to give you coins instead of bills)

Because they are releasing only four per year and going in chronological order. This year is the first four Presidents (Washington, Adams, Jefferson, and Madison). Next year will be Monroe, Adams, Jackson, and Van Buren and so on and so on. So we won't get to Carter and Reagan until 2016. Carter might still be alive in 2014 and even if he is dead in 2016 he still might not get his coin because he might not have been dead for two years or more. Reagan however will definitely have been dead for more than two years and thus will receive his in 2016.
