I'm going to be going to NYC with my girlfriend in the beginning of May after school and I wanted to know what I shouldn't miss.

We aren't going to have a car and we are going to be there 3 nights 2 days.

MoMA.

make sure you see as much as possible of the city. me and my friends found a bunch of cool stuff just walking down random streets. I forget where it was at, but we walked down this one street and in this little alley there was like a bunch of mini stores setup that was pretty much all head shops. I bought a few choice peices there.

I'll tell you one thing you will miss -- your money.

I don't know if it was just in the areas I visited each time I went, but everything was a few bucks more than they were back where I lived in Syracuse. Hamburgers were like $4-5 each.

Too expensive for me.

You can go inside the statue of liberty now but you have to call in advance and get a ticket. There is usually a wait so you need to call soon. You can get to the island still but you cannot go in unless you have the ticket.

4-5$ for a hamburger is nothing, i went to fucking london and was paying like 60$ a day for FOOD alone. I remember a fucking shwarma specifically was 8.50 (pounds) aka 18$ CAD WTF

Don't go to the Guggenheim, at least right now everything is closed, maybe by May they will get their shit together...
I would suggest getting tickets for the Top of the Rock (http://www.topoftherocknyc.com/ODTStatic/site.htm)(30 Rockefeller Center), if its a clear day, its the best view of the city.

You can go inside the statue of liberty now but you have to call in advance and get a ticket. Is it just the base, or do they let you go back up into the visor again?

Do not go to the Moma unless you like modern art. I do, so I'm often there.

Visit Central Park. The Met is nearby.

Time Square is pretty boring, imho, but your girlfriend may like the Toys 'R' Us there. It's enormous and pretty wild for a toy store.

You can eat at Chevy's or Hard Rock if you have money to blow.

Take in some comedy at Sal's comedy hole (usually someone famous is performing).

Do shopping in the east village or Rockefeller Center (which has NBC studio tours, etc).

Go to the top of Empire State building.

If you like horror, visit Abracadabra's.

Three stories of horror stuff. Lots of relic pieces. The entire basement is like a football field of costumes.

They even have Han in carbonite (life-sized).

be careful driving in the city if you are--the streets can be really fucking confusing if you've never been there before. i was really tired a couple weeks ago and turned the wrong way onto a one way street :(

hellsy had some really good sights to see. FAO schwartz is a cool toy store too...trump tower/the plaza hotel (from home alone NYC) and central park are some must sees i can think of that are really close to each other

You can get up the Empire State Building for free if you're good at stuff like that. There are always group tours going on. Times Square is worth seeing just so you can say you've been there. Same with MSG. You can see the Statue of Liberty while going down one of the highways, but it's kind of hit and miss if you're the driver (literally). If you can get to the statue with tickets or whatever I think that'd be the highlight of the trip.

Forgot to mention, you can still score dimebags in washington square park.

Also there is the Marijuana March May 5, 2007. Usually winds up at Washington Square Park. Always a good time. Its like the one day a year the cops let people smoke in public, so long as they are not being assholes (ex: blow smoke in the horses face, smash beer bottles, attract attention).

A few years ago, we had a hookah laid out on a huge blanket and let everyone throw in and share. Cops did NOTHING.

*NFWS*

Right across the street and barely a half block down from Penn is a sex shop with spank rooms.

I used to take the New Jersey transit line and LIRR. It was entertaining to watch businessmen roll out of there like it is just a stop over or a time-killer between traveling or trains. It had a jizz mopper and everything. I'd cross by the store essentially every time I went to Penn, in virtue of the fact that it was on the block between where I got off the F line and Penn Station's NJ Transit terminal.

How do I know it had spank rooms? I have a friend in porn and I went to buy her DVD. I never expected to see the spank rooms. It was pretty disgusting, really. Like changing room stalls all in a row with horrible sex noises. A guy taking money at the doors and a mop and bucket next to him.
