I'm very sad about this, simply because there aren't many people with minds like his anymore. I wonder sometimes if our country is still capable of producing people like him, and it saddens me to no end to think that maybe it's not. He was a person who saw past all the dogma of liberals vs. conservatives and religious belief vs. reactionary agnosticism, who saw past all the consumerist bread and circuses, and really saw what's becoming of human culture in the modern era. He lived a full life and went when it was time, but God it's a big loss.

that is really too bad, my girlfriend was a huge fan of his. He just came this year to OSU as well and spoke, supposidly it was a great lecture (I had a midterm the next day so I couldn't go).

Which book is it recommended to start reading if you've never read KV's work before?

I've always liked Cat's Cradle. Slaughterhouse Five is another of his best.
