Have you been following Armed Assault as closely as me and Mulchman?
It's supposed to be basically a duplicate of operation flashpoint with updated graphics and new features. The mission editing and controls are nearly exact and the AI is a lot smarter.. makes missions tough now!

This video makes my peepee hard.
Edit- Oh yea, hits shelves May 1st for the US. Think it's been released across seas already. They have a mp demo out that me and mulchy played the shit out of it (coop). Fun stuff!

Funny you would post this. I had no clue they were making this and I decided to reinstall Operation Flashpoint like 2 days ago lol
It does look amazing. Operation Flashpoint was really great, my only beef was that it wasn't very good in multiplayer unless you had some buddies to play with. I remember playing OF with old clanmates a while ago and we had a blast, but for jump-in-any-server action, I hope they refined it a little. I'll definatly check it out though.

Yea, deathmatch and team deathmatch sucked in mp. The lag was incredibly horrible. But if you play coop with a few buddies its a ton of fun.
If you want to play a bit me with and mulchman just hit me up. We use the BAS addons (delta force and rangers).

i've been playing this game for months with the guys over at something awful, you can actually purchase the game online and download it (like direct2drive.com, but a different site).

I've already had the game for months now. I ordered it from gogamer.com. They were shipping the UK version here to the US for no extra charge, same game too! :) Its rape

Sorry to revive this relatively old thread but I bough this game and, despite some cool aspects like the graphics, it has a lot of problems. First of all, the US version isn't compatible with the EU version (yet). They say they'll be compatible soon, but for the time being, there are like 3 servers on which I can play. Another thing, you can't jump. Not even to hurdle over objects like in Rainbow Six. It gets frustrating. Also, the AI is ridiculously "aware" of its surroundings. I'm getting sick of tanks getting me from 500 meters from behind thick brush. There's a thread about this on the Atari forums if you like. Basically, you have to be a hardcore sim/strategy fan to like this game.

I still have some old Operation Flashpoint crosshairs that someone made for TFC

Yeah, Naufragus, it can be very frustrating at times. Piegeons and I have been playing OFP (w/ resistance and BAS delta/ranger addons) a lot lately and now more recently have switched exclusively to Armed Assault.
It certainly takes some getting used to - especially aiming and actually being able to hit guys. You MUST use the optics view and you must know exactly where to aim each weapon. It also helps to not be in wooded areas as the AI will just nail you through trees from 200m away where you can't see shit...
I've only played ArmA coop w/ pigeons so I can't comment on the deathmatch or whatever else there is. We typically make our own missions (super easy) and then play them until we beat them.
Pigeons' missions usually are better (imo) and have some kind of "story" and are generally harder whereas mine feature some kind of gimic - like protecting a downed blackhawk from a million guys swarming or using one of those small inflatable boats for a night insertion and having to use it multiple times during the mission.
Anyway, its good times and if you wanna play coop (and are on at a time when pigeons is around...) we can certainly hook up and play. I'm mulch11blah on AIM as that's how pigeons and I communicate eventhough the bastard used to hang out on IRC.
Anywaywayayayayaya, it's great team based combat (when we're not rushing in and dying uber fast) and a ton of fun. We also get on ventrillo while playing so if you're up for playing but don't have a mic that might be a problem (as when pigeons is providing overwatch and I'm running up to the next tree line neither of us are going to stop and type...).
EDIT: Back to Naufragus's post and annoying tanks & shit - pigeons and I most recently were trying to beat the coop "cleansweep" mission that comes with the game and it involves killing everyone at this town. The only problem is there're two BMP-2's and no one on our squad has a LAW or AT-4. Anyway, the BMP-2 usually will roll up to where we are laying down the hurt with the shitty ass M4's and rape us - so annoying - especially when we're in thick wooded areas and it comes rolling up into the trees. This is at night, too, and our guys are allegedly stealthy.
Give me a SAW anyday in ArmA over the shitty M4 w/ aimpoint scope - that thing is terrible. Hell, give me any gun besides the M4 aimpoint. The ironsight M4 is soooo much better.
YEAH, SO IVE POSTED ENOUGH. I need to go make a mission as, unofficially, I think its my turn to crank something out. I'm thinking we've had enough nighttime missions so its going to be daytime... and maybe blowing up a convoy on a bridge.
EDIT EDIT EDIT: Janordy - I think "Goliath" made those (he used to play OFP with me before joining the Navy (?) and going to spain [and who knows where he is now]).
EDIT #3: Hm, I've got to stop. I wouldn't compare this to BF2 though. Sure it's got vehicles and shit but so did regular Operation Flashpoint (and that was before BF2). The thing that separates it for me is the realism and movement. The movement is a lot 'shittier' and the realism a lot higher in OFP/ArmA although ArmA movement isn't too bad. You run into weird things when trying to do things fast - like go prone and strafe around a corner while being in optics view - it just doesn't work that great. OFP/ArmA are more of a take-your-time type game as if you rush something you'll die most likely (and moreso with ArmA).
Helicopters are harder to fly in ArmA (compared to OFP) too - they're more realistic now in that you have to use the pedals + banking to turn instead of just moving the mouse. My rubber boat insertion mission had us extract in a helicopter to some random spot over the ocean and trying to maneuver in the dark over the ocean where there was no horizon, no frame of reference, and doing this through nightvision was a nightmare. I ended up basically stopping and hovering then rotating until my position was facing the extract trigger on the map, then just flying straight. I have a tendency to crash when flying so this added extra pressure as we had just beat the mission after trying for like the 8th time and I didn't want to fuck up and have to do it all over again aha.
Lastly: http://mulchman.trepid.net/arma/ some pics of pigeons and I playing. You can tell my computer sucks as shit goes flatshaded/shitty all the time aha. The game really looks a lot better with a good computer and higher settings... but I usually host the games and when I lag (or am getting low fps) then pigeons suffers too and you need that guy non-laggy to cover your ass.

It's out and available for download if you don't wanna go out to buy it. I know I went out to a local Best Buy on the day it was released in the US and no one there had heard of it... so I downloaded it.
http://www.armedassault.com/ -> there's a link to some sprocketidea.com site where you can buy (and download (direct link to sprocket idea place thing (http://www.sprocketidea.com/zencart/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=6))).
