Yeah, so basically this sounds like the worst idea when it comes to organized play. I mean, how could a clan organize a strategy when the map's going to change every time? What retards.

Nauf rejoice, this just means chokepoints galore with the right combo.

Well it sounds like an interesting idea. Frankly I'm not too worried...if it does end up being lame, I'm sure leagues will just run custom maps that are not "dynamic"

Honestly that doesn't sound like the worst idea. I'm sure there's a way to set predictable points and therefore run different strategies on it. But then again there won't be much strategy in this clusterfuck of a game.

it wouldnt be hard to develop a generic strategy on the maps... regardless of how big it is... i think it would add some new spice to the game... keep it coming valve, i like where this is heading

Instead of 90% of clans using the same exact strategy because it is the only way to keep the playing field even (like TFC currently is), dynamic maps might be something that totally revolutionizes league play!! You must master your leader skills in the battle, not spend hours of pre-determined optimized strat leading to the use of very specific classes in very specific spots for every single damn clan.

Although I agree that they are making this game purely in the eyes of public server players and not a competitive enviorment. It will be interesting to see if the game can be adapted to leagues in some way.

Even if it can't be adapted, I'm sure someone will put the effort into a server plugin or two in order to make it more "competitive".

Of course the game is aimed at pubs. Competitive play is only a very small portion of the market. Pubs are what will make or break TF2, league play doesn't even enter the picture.

It wasn't hard for them to make TFC capable of both public and league play. It has an insane amount of skill involved yet there are still consistently-filled servers that play with nothing but defaults. Why can that not happen again?

If valve doesn't allow custom maps on PC they might as well stop developing for PC gamers right now.

Where did you see that, because I'm pretty sure in any of the interviews I read nothing like that was mentioned...

I haven't read that anywhere either. If they did something like that, it would seem very uncharacteristic of Valve. They are one of the most mod/customize friendly companies out there.

I disagree. Competitive gaming is becoming a huge industry and Valve is right at the center of it with CS. There are professional gamers, people who play in tourneys for money and even have endorsements from computer and gaming companies. That one CS player even has a line of mice named after him. The CPL logo is now showing up on hardware (the mouse pad I bought a few months ago had a huge "Endorsed by the CPL" sticker on it for example).

If you want your game to become huge it NEEDS the support of the professional gamers. Whatever game dominates tournaments dominates the gaming industry (Quake, Quake 3, CS, Starcraft, etc).

Well too bad they decided a long time ago that TFC should not be part of that staple of competitive games.
