Summary: Gilbert Arenas says he will opt out of his contract next year. Personally, I think Washington needs to keep him, and from what I have been reading, they want too. If not, it will be interesting to see where he will go.

^Yeah that gave me a chuckle too.
He is a solid scorer tho, and would be a good addition to a team with a fair defensive presence but more collateral pieces than a perimeter star. Salary aside, I would think a team like Toronto or Orlando could use his services most since both have an inside presence but could use an outside presence to help free them up.

i really hope the wizards can keep him. hes our franchise. the wizkids could go to the next level if they just somehow got a decent big man. haywood and etan thomas blow. they need a solid big man (GARNETT?!?!). then they would be dominant, arenas, butler, jamison, garnett, and i guess stevenson.

They'll pay him. They want him there, and they can offer more than any other team. Arenas knows this, he's trying to up the ante.

I was actually disapointed with Gilbo's performance this year. Since he came into the league it's the first year where he hasn't really shown any improvement. I know he unknowingly played with a partially seperated clavical for 6 weeks or so, and Butler missed significant time but I really would like to see him put up better shooting numbers. The guy is obviously capable but all his confidence seems to interfere with his shot selection a few times each game.

Orlando needs this guy. Hopefully they don't squander their cap space this year in a weak FA class and save to make a run at him.
