Any Nick Drake Fans out there?

I bought Five Leaves Left about a year ago and really liked it. I liked it so much in fact that I decided to check out ticketmaster to see if he was touring anywhere. After doing a little research, I discovered that he'd been dead for 30 years. Oh...ok...

I'm not sure what it is, but theres just something about his music that sounds so fresh and new. I would have never guessed in a million years that all of his music was recorded 30+ years ago. I just picked up Pink Moon last week and fell in love immediately. It might be a bit premature, but I'd definitely say its in my top three albums of all time.

The only album I don't have of his is Bryter Layter. How does it compare to his other two?

Also, I just found out that a new CD of his just came out titled "Family Tree." Its a bunch of old unreleased stuff apparently.

He was cool before all of the Garden State indie kids started beating his dick off.

Definitely get Bryter Layter. It's closer to Five Leaves Left than to Pink Moon musically, although it's a little bit more upbeat (at least for Nick Drake, it's not cheery by any means). I haven't listened to The Family Tree but I'd imagine it'd be interesting to see how his music evolved leading up to the release of Five Leaves Left.

essential. the family tree album also has songs his mother recorded. there's a really good documentary on youtube on him also that i think sort of ties into the family tree album
