Not bad....... not bad at all... He trained with Bas Rutten and Bas says he's the best student he's ever had.

Isn't Mercer like 50? Poor bastard must be near broke to be gimmicking out like this.

EDIT: C'mon Mass I just watched that "fight", Mercer just got beat up for 2 mins and then tapped out, how is that not bad?

So he beat up a guy collecting social security? No disrespect as I'm sure that guy can hold his own and was even better in his prime but he's 46. I hope Kimbo gets his shit kicked in after watching that cocky fuck pop off at the mouth after beating up random guys in street fights.

Kimbo has another thing coming when he actually fights people in his league and not geriatrics. That reminds me of the Ortiz/Shamrock fights.

I didn't mean the fight wasn't bad, I was talking more about Kimbo's ability to adapt to MMA. He had a guy in front of him that was a puncher and he himself was a puncher and instead of just getting into a slug fest he used various MMA skills. He threw solid combinations, was using the clinch and throwing thai knee's, had a solid double leg takedown which he spun into a guillatine choke out. All of those things impressed me a great deal from a street fighter who has no in ring MMA experience. Very solid performance for his debut against an old... yes.... but still former olympic gold medalist and former heavyweight champion of the world. Which is a lot better than fighting the brooklyn brawler for a debut if you know what I mean.

Oh I agree that Kimbo is a good all-around fighter and seems to be adapting to MMA fairly well for his debut. I'm also saying, however, that he has a huge chip on his shoulder like he's invincible, and I can't wait to tune into the PPV event where he gets rocked.

Every fighter thinks he's invincible. I don't know why that is, you find me a fighter who thinks he's going to lose before a fight and willing to admit it and I'll be impressed. They all walk around like they're the baddest mother fuckers around, i.e Phil Baroni, who's never beat anyone any good and said he was going to break the jaw of a middleweight world champion (in various orginizations). It's just the way fighters are.

Yes but the majority of them don't run off at the mouth constantly about fighters they have never fought, unless they're going to fight them. I'm saying that for being a noob in the sport, Kimbo thinks he's belt-holding worthy.

Do you have any footage or anything from interviews? I've only seen 1 or 2 but the ones I saw he seemed pretty calm and professional, I don't remember him calling anyone out or anything.

he probably said something stupid in one of his many street fight videos

There are a few videos out there where he claims "aint no on can compete with me" and yadda yadda yadda. I don't have them on my computer nor do I recall what videos they were.

I saw some very surprising savy moves from Kimbo there. Ol' Merciless was a punching bag, but a brawler like Kimbo finishing with a gilly like that with an arm in is eye opening. He tried a thai clench and knee a bit, and took his opponent down a few times without much effort. Let's see how that works against someone who isn't older than the hills.

In bare nuckles street fighting, I'd say it's not all that far off.
