im just wondering for those who have played tf2, how hard is it on your pc? i basically can't get higher than 20 fps in ff even at lowest resolution/settings and with the fps config, so im wondering how tf2 compares before i think about buying it

it actually runs pretty damn smoothly. it automatically picks the best setting and resolution for you, and it runs smooth as shit. was getting like 50-70 fps in firefights. hell it looks fucking amazing even at lower resolutions. usually i have my stuff on 1280x1024, but after playing a few rounds, i checked and i was only on 1024x768 and it still looked absolutely stunning.

and in ff my fps is garbage, even at 800x600 at the lowest everything. which doesnt make sense since my comp should handle it no problem.

Whiskey dick, keeping good men down since 1608.

Anyways, in terms of performance, we'd need to see your specs first. I'm running a C2D E6300, 2GB Ram, 7900GS @ 550/780 running at 1280x1024 4aa 8af and it runs really really smooth. The game also has multicore support, but I'm not sure how much that contributes.

once the game begins, it seems to play smoother than most fps I been in plus most servers are pinging really nice. kind of a double bonus.

my fps is normally around 50 on FF(highs in the 100's lows in the 30's), on similar settings in TF i average 12-17fps. Dropping the quality and resolution ALOT i finally managed to pull off a constant 30-40 fps.
this has been the killer for me playing the game =/
my comp stats for comparison:
AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual-Core Processor 4400+, 2048 MB RAM, Nvidia GeForce 7300 LE video card
not a top of the line computer by any means... its not horrible though.

i get superior fps in TF2 than i do in FF

however my FPS has seemed to slowly improve since FF release, wonder if it was a server issue and just choppy looking models or something

pentium 4 3.2ghz
1 gb ram
sapphire x850gto
19 in widescreen lcd using dvi

I run TF2 at 1440x900 and it really is amazing...solid fps always. FF is decent for me but there are times my fps drop to about 10.

I was really shocked how well TF2 runs, and it's hella fun.....

You need a new video card.
