View Full Version : Bhop script might be impossible....

I was playing around with TF2 to see if i could get any form of bhop.

It appears like bhop is possible, if you do it perfectly yourself - script free (the best I could do was keep around 12 jumps in a row).

Tried about 10 bhop scripts:

my best guess is that valve hard coded some type of anti +jump spam... no matter how many jumps i added to a script, i could never get even the slightest change in gameplay.

---

There is definately a chance i'm wrong or havent figured out the workaround, but basically it appears like the only thing stopping bhop in TF2 is valve.

Makes you wonder if that leaves room for a hack or not.

Bhop hacking... lol

Kind of funny considering when bhop first came out people called it a cheat.

Also while on topic of scripts, it's likely valve has removed class cfg's all together?

I could exec cfg's but they never would auto load.

auto exec execs, but thats about it, i wrote a script that made my F# keys change class keys and also execed the config for that given class

If you or anybody else actually finds a way to do this I really hope Valve releases a fix instantly.

I agree. Don't exploit the game and turn it into something it's not. I'm glad there isn't bhop in TF2. When I need my speedfreak fix I will go play FF on some ff_adarvark. :)

i love scripts and what they can do... IMHO, bhop in TFC was never cheating. Valve even added the speed cap to show us they approved of the general concept.

With that being said, I think any bhop by script would be dangerously close to cheating based on what I now know about TF2 coding. Valve is showing clear intent to remove bhop from their game.

in conclusion, i'd probably not bhop in tf2 unless it was to mess around (if it were made possible in the future).

You may not have thought about this but remember how the scout has a double jump? I think that might be your problem right there. Valve probably doesnt care about bhop as much as they care about people exploiting the double jump on the scout. It would be pretty annoying to fight a constantly double jumping scout.

You can definately bhop in tf2, but it's hard and not worth it.

I've seen some scouts do some wacky movement with this double jump. If you practice this a lot you can like move in totally different directions and change your movement instantly. It's pretty sweet. I'd say it is way less predictable then traditional bhop.

What about an auto-reload script? And is it possible that your cfgs do not work because this is only a beta? I am hoping (PRAYING) that I can change my default_fov once the game is 100% complete/released, since this is only a beta.

You don't need as many buttons with TF2, so I have my thumb button (MOUSE4) set for reload.

I bound reload to strafe keys and had to make 2 cfg's.

1 to turn reload script on and one off.

a reload script makes a few classes unplayable.

medic/hw for example.

trust me, it IS annoying

scouts have a lot of potential and can out most classes except a juiced hw really

It seems to be that you do gain some speed while strafing. It felt like I was bhopping last night as I kept my soldier slightly behindthe speed of a sniper. But it also seems like everytime you land you have to press forward again to jump forward instead of jumping directly to the right. Wont be tfc bhop and probably not as useful. It at elast allowed for better dodging.

I was able to keep forward momentum at a good rate of speed without hitting the forward button roughly 12 jumps in a row. Bhop is in this game but you'd have to be an uber god to actually do it perfectly. One mistimed jump would make all your effort pointless.

did you try autojump.exe?

yeah like Tone said, you dont need many buttons in tf2 so scripts are pointless. If you have a 5-button mouse youll only need your keyboard to move!

Don't see why you'd need a jump script when the jump timing in TF2 is extremely easy...you can kinda do the weak, more oldschool bhop in it but I don't think it's worth it.

you guys need to stop relying on scripts. the good thing about TF2 is that its so well made that your success is based on raw skill, not your creativity and ability to script.

bunnyhopping is not going to happen, there is no way to gain speed aside from propelling yourself with objects that apply force (rockets, pipes, etc). if you do get this speed, you can't maintain it. valve made sure you cant jump again within a certain interval of landing.. also keep in mind that hl2 works a bit differently with scripts and +commands.

what else could you possibly need scripts for at this point? the layouts are done very nicely so even as spy you can quickly pick a class to disguise at without needing binds, unlike tfc. even the engineer, its only two buttons you have to hit to build something.

in my opinion, tf2 is a well made game, drop the scripts and just play it. it isnt that hard to hit R to reload. most of you have been using WASD long enough that your fingers should be quick enough to hit R. need to discard? use those two nade buttons that you have free all of a sudden.

Good post.. But yes i agree you dont need any scripts in TF2. The only complaint in controls i have is that the spy cloak shouldn't be a toggle. It should be. Hold the mouse to enable it.. let go to disable it.

Why? In order to make it more difficult? I'm just asking, I haven't logged a second of playtime as Spy or Sniper.

The only think i wish was easier to use on the fly, though i am not sure how they could, would be the pre-canned voice comms. I like them a lot, maybe I won't a couple fo months from now after I have heard them all ad nauseum.

Who uses a script to bhop anyway? TF2 relies on being able to aim which I cant do at least with my weapon blocking half my screen and my fov zoomed in so far. Concing and bhopping were skills that I didnt have scripted. Also the game is boring with the exception of dustbowl and hydro and gravel pit.

I agree with the spy cloak to be toggle. I hate when I have my cloak power low and I click to take it off and stab someone but at the same moment it runs out and I recloack instead of taking it off.

You move on the second jump according to what movement key(s) you have pressed. Try this: Jump, only hold down left strafe, then hit jump again and you will 'jumpdodge' to the left. Massive fun.
