try out my gl hook please

only reason im not posting this in the customization discussion is cause i want to get as many people as possible to try this out so i can get bugs worked out.

Here is the readme since i forgot to add one to the zip file:

Put the files in your half-life folder (the folder with hl.exe).

Run HybridHackBase.exe instead of hl.exe.

Commands

Toggle Speedo - same as sparky
glspeedo text/dial/graphic


Toggle score display (the border is your current team color)
glscores


Set hud color - this is the sparky hud coloring stuff, works the same
glsethudcolor r g b brightness


Toggle clock display
glclock


Toggle round timer
glrtimer


Toggle stats display or say your stats
glstats display/say


Menu functions - bind to keys, glmenuselect shows menu
glmenuup
glmenudown
glmenuselect
glmenuback


Winamp controls - same as sparky, couple minor changes:
-volup and voldown change volume by 2%, not 5
-added a *beta* "gui"
-added a list option, which prints your playlist to console
glwinamp gui/play/pause/stop/next/prev/shuffle/volup/voldown/list


I know there will be problems/bugs, as i havent really tested this extensively yet, so please let me know what you find. Also, let me know any suggestions you have.

alot. i can do most of the sparky features, some things i just plain cant do since it isnt a client hook. Other than that, im really not sure. I am planning on doing an old school scoreboard, and if it works out like i am thinking, it will be fairly easy to do.

Cool did you ever get the mouse pointer thing working? That would be very cool to be able to select a menu item with mouse or a song from play list ex-cetera ex-cetera. :)

Pardon my stupidity, but is this legal to use in either STA or TFL leagues? I would hate to download and install something like this, and then get flagged.

TFL and sta allow these hooks, others probally do i just dont pay attention to those leagues sry... as long as it doesnt contain cheats or change the game... sparky/nem/this hook doesnt do that so it is allowed

actually, as far as i know, they only allow the official sparky and official nemesis, so this is most likely illegal. I dont care, ill still use it, as it doesnt contain any cheats and is pretty much a trimmed down version of sparky.

and no atomic, i gave up on that, it is way over my head =/

it isnt that much different, couple differences:
i added a couple winamp things
i rewrote the score display stuff from scratch
it is an opengl hook, meaning it is vac proof atm (and hopefuly stays that way for some time)
it uses the ogc menu code, so you have a customizable menu for it

if ud add the bunnyhop hook to it id use it all the time cuz i switch between nemesis and sparky b/c sparky has the winamp thing and nemesis has bhop hook...but if you'd add bhop hook to yours id use it all the time

as for legality, it is legal in TFL until vac comes out. Then it will be illegal and anyone caught using it will be treated as a cheater.

I am not sure about sta right now, will have to ask an admin.

Im pretty sure flag timers are illegal, unless it is like a stop watch.

They aren't because there is one in Nemesis, and it is legal in US leagues except for one or two.

me too, at least make it a feature. That is the main reason I stay with nemesis, that and it doesnt clutter up my screen as much as sparky did. and btw nemesis has winamp controls too.

for you old school ppl, remember when priming a grenade produced no gren timer clicks? utter silence. Ppl made gren click timers and ppl considered that a cheat. Then valve put it in.

flag timers are harmless. I used nemesis for a long time, and recently ive been to lazy to use it cause i play cs, and i get flagged if i have it on. so i havn't been using it, and I can still predict how much time the flag has to return within about 5 seconds. the timer just makes it more precise. I would not be surprised if valve put a flag timer in soon.

I use Sparky's Utilities and really could care less about a flag timer. I can say without little doubt that I can "feel" when a flag is going to return with 99.9% accuracy everytime. Once you've played almost 300 matches and pubbed a good 10,000+ hours of TFC in 3+ years, it's second nature.

That said, if an automatic timer was included in Sparky's I'd still use it probably, as that .1% is always nice to have. The other Sparky's features are way better than Nemesis though, so I stick with it.

because i used a cheat base for it and never renamed the exe or dll, feel free to do so, it will work as long as they are named exactly the same

Flag timers are a crutch.... and a cheat.

Doesnt the fact that so many people are caught up with having to have a flagtimer else theyll use Nemisis indicate something? Means that the timers give you such an advantage you cant live without it.

It's great really, nicely organized and done, but the only reason I won't use it over nemesis is because it doesn't have the Flag timers. :(

well, all i can say is, it never will, as it is something i am not interested in. If vac comes out for tfc, how will you people cope with not being able to use your precious flag timer?

Which ever way you think, it's a great idea that VALVE should empliment. I'd love to have one, but I do think that is cheating. One of the reasons I chose sparky in the first place. The very reason I won't use nemisis.
